Area Sales Manager - South West

Job Title: AREA SALES MANAGER (South West located in Bristol or surrounding area)

- 37.5 Hours per Week
- Unpaid overtime will be necessary to complete the duties required

Stuart Turner Limited is a long established market leading pump manufacturing specialist based in Henley-on-Thames but with customers all across the UK, ROI and Internationally.

The Area Sales Managers are essentially account managers with responsibility for growing sales and awareness of our products on their area. Stuart Turner's client base is extensive -  dealing with all the National, Regional and Independent merchants, specialist Distribution companies, bathroom showrooms, internet companies and commercial pump stockists, so experience of calling on this client base, representing a technical product range will be highly advantageous.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

This role is focused on creating new business demand, developing our routes to market and generally raising awareness of the Stuart Turner product range.

The role holder will need to take full ownership and responsibility for their business area, but can rely on the full support of the Commercial Director (Trade, OEM and Export) and the entire Sales team to support their efforts in establishing Stuart Turner as a credible alternative to the competitors that currently operate in this market sector.


Job Definition

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring all area sales targets and market share targets are delivered as planned.
  • Create, develop and maintain strong working relationships with our distribution partners
  • Create, develop and maintain key accounts
  • Monitor and analyse both current and future sales trends
  • Maintain a detailed technical and commercial knowledge of all Company products.
  • Promote the Company's products through the retail trade, merchants, showrooms, stockists, trade counters and distribution channels.
  • Deliver product and system training including CPD's as and when required
  • Attend exhibitions / trade shows which may involve working outside normal working hours
  • Keep abreast of market, customer and competitor changes / information.
  • Maintaining relationships with customers through regular visits, promotional activities and occasional corporate entertainment.
  • Extensive travel will be required to fulfil the role within the designated sales area.
  • It is important that all members' of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain the efficient running of the business. The Chief Executive Officer reserves the right to redistribute duties and functions amongst members of staff from time to time and requests for such changes shall not be reasonably refused.


Person Specification

Your ideal skills will include but not be limited to: 

  • Technical sales experience
  • Proven experience of selling and promoting products or solutions to a similar customer base
  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth
  • Excellent verbal, written and IT skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to planning and organise their own activities
  • Driven, self-motivated and business aware
  • Awareness of the commercial impact of their activity
  • Current and clean UK Driving Licence 

The position will be based predominantly within your sales area and as and when required at the head office based at Market Place, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 2AD.  The job holder will be required to live fairly centrally on their area.
