Stuart Turner working with the installers of the future!

Stuart Turner is working with colleges across the UK to support Level 3 NVQ Domestic Plumbing and Heating courses by providing training seminars and donating products for the students to work on within the workshops.

Stuart Turner technical experts are visiting colleges and training workshops to deliver their 'best practice' training module and offer advice on installations and water pressure boosting pumps. They are also providing pumps and a series of training aids to help students perform on-site tasks in the classroom, to further support newcomers to the industry.

Michael Wanless, Lecturer in Plumbing and Heating at Haringey, Enfield and North East London College said: "We are really excited about working with Stuart Turner and were keen to work with a nationally recognised manufacturer that could help improve the skills and experience of our learners. On behalf of the College, the members of Staff and our Learners, I would like to thank you and your Company for the excellent seminar and teaching session.

I would also like to once again thank you on behalf of the College for the very generous donation of your Companies products, these are to be fitted into our new Assessment bays as soon as possible.

The feedback from the Staff and Learners was highly complementary on both the content and delivery of the session, this included: "very interesting"  "relevant to our course", "very high quality products", "informative".

Grant Ellis Commercial Director for Stuart Turner, said: "Stuart Turner obviously has a vested interest in the installers of the future and put the training programme in place to work in partnership with colleges across the country. This is a great way for us to help the next generation of installers gain the necessary skills and knowledge and provides us with an opportunity to help secure the future of the industry and of course, hopefully make a few Stuart Turner fans along the way."

The training module covers the following topics:

  • Water pressure - what is it and how is it measured
  • The difference between pressure & flow
  • An overview of typical UK domestic plumbing systems
  • Pump terminology including an explanation of the difference between positive and negative head systems, peripheral and centrifugal designs, twin and single pumps.
  • Pump selection and applications
